The Trav'lers Classic Gospel

In early 1961, five young men had a dream of forming a quartet that would be unique in the world of southern gospel music. They envisioned a group that would sing great gospel songs about our Lord, have a smooth sound and create superb arrangements centered around four part modern harmonies. Hence, The Trav'lers. Soon after forming, the group was offered a regular weekly spot on "The Bob Poole Gospel Favorites" television program. This was the first weekly, syndicated, Gospel Music television program of its kind and was seen coast to coast on over 100 television stations. The Trav'lers appeared on this show, on a weekly basis, for almost five years. Those television appearances brought about personal appearance dates all across America and Canada. Since their inception in 1961, The Trav'lers have been one of the premier groups in southern gospel music. They are still one of the most exciting, smooth sounding groups singing southern gospel music today. They are currently seen on "America's Gospel Favorites" television program, airing twice weekly on the "Gospel Music Television Network" as well as various cable systems and TV stations across the nation. The Trav'lers consist of: Tom Brown - In the late 1950's, Tom attended his first southern gospel music concert in Greenville, SC which just happened to feature The Statesmen Quartet. That night he fell in love with this wonderful music. Tom is also an original member from 1961. He sings the Baritone and does most of the MC work. Eddie Broom - Eddie sang with The Dixie Echos and the Palmetto State Quartet before joining The Trav'lers. His vocal ability and country humor has won the hearts of folks all across the nation. Eddie sings Lead. Wayne Shuford - Originally from Lincolnton, NC, Wayne sang with The Pine Ridge Boys (a group formed by the late Wally Fowler - a spin-off of the Oak Ridge Quartet) prior to joining The Trav'lers in 1967. Wayne sings Tenor and does the booking for the group. Enjoy their performance; for they give 100% of themselves. Enjoy their friendship; for they truly love people.
